The frost protection function is naturally maintained at night, as well as after leaving the house, so there is no need to forego the safe operation of the heating system despite the energy consumption control.
Generally speaking, a distinction is made between electromechanical time switches, which have to be connected to the mains power supply in order to fulfil their function, and battery-operated time switches. The former depend on the constant flow of current and can no longer be used to control your electrical equipment when the current is interrupted, for example during a power failure. For this reason, battery-operated time switches are increasingly being sold, which operate independently of the mains supply and are radio-controlled.
